Crosshouse is a village on the western edge of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire, Scotland. Set where town meets rolling Ayrshire countryside, it is best known for University Hospital Crosshouse, the regional acute hospital that is a major local employer, while many residents commute to nearby towns or further afield to Glasgow.
Historically the settlement grew up around mining and light industry and that heritage still shapes parts of its character, but today Crosshouse feels largely residential with a strong community atmosphere, local sports clubs and social venues, and easy access to country walks and cycling - giving it a blend of suburban convenience and rural appeal within the wider economic and cultural life of Ayrshire.
