Dreghorn is a small village in North Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland, lying a few miles inland from the coastal town of Irvine and within easy commuting distance of Kilmarnock and Glasgow. Set among rolling Ayrshire farmland, it feels distinctly rural while benefiting from good road links to larger centres and the nearby Ayrshire coast for recreation.
Historically the village grew from farming and the coal-mining and industrial activity that shaped much of the area, and you can still see older stone buildings and remnants of that past alongside modern housing. Community life centres on the parish church, local school and clubs, with a modest local economy and many residents now commuting to work, which gives Dreghorn a quietly residential, community-focused character.
