Inverkip in Inverclyde sits on the eastern shore of the Firth of Clyde at the mouth of the River Kip, with long coastal views toward the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig. It grew up from a small fishing community into a Victorian and 20th‑century commuter settlement serving nearby Greenock and Glasgow, while retaining a compact village feel.
Today the harbour and Kip Marina are focal points for leisure boating and local tourism, and the surrounding foreshore and coastal paths attract birdwatchers and walkers. The village’s skyline was once marked by a large power‑station cooling tower that became a familiar landmark before its removal, and local life revolves around community groups, a primary school and seasonal events.
