Llanfihangel-ar-Arth is a small, predominantly rural community in Carmarthenshire, in west Wales. Its name reflects the parish church of St Michael and the nearby Arth watercourse, and the area is characterised by rolling farmland, narrow lanes and a patchwork of sheep and dairy farms rather than heavy industry.
Locally there is a strong Welsh-speaking tradition and a close-knit social life centred on the village hall, chapels and a pub, with occasional agricultural shows and community events. Historically agricultural and shaped by rural change over the last century, the settlement now combines farming, small local businesses and commuting links for those working in larger towns nearby.
