Flint is a compact market town and community in Flintshire, in north-east Wales, sitting on the banks of the River Dee and the Dee Estuary with saltmarshes and views across to the Wirral and Cheshire. Its skyline is dominated by the dramatic ruin of Flint Castle, built by Edward I in 1277 as part of the conquest of Wales, and the castle remains the town’s historic focal point.
Today the town combines a traditional market‑town character with local shops, community events and heritage initiatives, while the nearby Deeside industrial area and good transport links mean many people commute to Chester and Liverpool; recent regeneration has focused on the waterfront and conservation of its historic core.
