Beaumaris is a small coastal town on the eastern shore of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, perched on the Menai Strait with clear views across to the mountains of Snowdonia. Its tidy Georgian streets, a Victorian pier and an active marina give it a compact, picturesque character that attracts sailors, walkers and day-trippers.
The town is best known for Beaumaris Castle, the unfinished late 13th-century concentric stronghold built for Edward I and part of the World Heritage group of castles in north Wales; that history, alongside a small local fishing and boat-service industry, a lively arts scene and seasonal festivals, underpins a largely tourism-led economy and a relaxed, community-minded social life.
