Clwt-y-bont is a small, rural village in Gwynedd in north-west Wales, set within easy reach of the foothills of Eryri (Snowdonia) and the north coast. The name literally means "patch of the bridge" and the settlement is characteristic of the area with traditional stone cottages, a village chapel and a landscape shaped by hills, lanes and field systems.
Like many communities in Gwynedd it shares the region's slate‑quarrying heritage and today the local economy revolves around farming, small‑scale tourism and commuting to nearby towns such as Caernarfon. Socially it remains a tight‑knit, largely Welsh‑speaking community where chapel life, local events and outdoor pursuits such as walking and cycling around the surrounding countryside play an important role.
