Llandwrog is a small village and community in rural Gwynedd, north‑west Wales, lying a few miles south‑west of Caernarfon on the fringes of Snowdonia and within easy reach of the Menai Strait. The landscape is classically Welsh - rolling farmland, distant mountains and a coastline nearby - which makes it feel tucked away yet connected to larger towns and outdoor recreation areas.
The village takes its name from the parish church of St Twrog and carries a strong Welsh‑speaking identity; community life still revolves around the church and local halls. Historically the area has been shaped by agriculture and the wider slate industry of Gwynedd, and during the Second World War the nearby RAF Llandwrog airfield played an important role - the site later became the small civil aerodrome often referred to as Caernarfon Airport. Today Llandwrog is quiet and rural, valued for its scenery, history and close‑knit local community.
