Briton Ferry is a small town on the eastern bank of the River Neath where it opens into Swansea Bay, within the county borough of Neath Port Talbot in Wales. Named for the ferry that once crossed the estuary, it expanded during the 19th‑century industrial boom with docks, rail links and riverside works; today the skyline is still marked by impressive motorway viaducts, including crossings of the M4.

Much of the local economy has been tied to nearby heavy industry, notably the works at Port Talbot, but the town now combines residential neighbourhoods, pockets of regeneration and riverside walking with a strong community and sporting life typical of south Wales. Its mix of industrial heritage, salt‑marsh estuary and wide coastal views gives it a character quite distinct from more tourist‑focused seaside towns.
