Lliswerry is a residential suburb and electoral ward to the east of the city centre of Newport in south Wales. The area sits close to the eastern bank of the River Usk and borders pockets of light industry and the old docks, giving a mix of terraced and post‑war housing, local parks and a working waterfront.
It grew up in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to serve nearby port and steel industries and still retains a strong community feel with schools, community centres and active sports clubs. Proximity to the M4 and port facilities continues to shape local employment and regeneration, so Lliswerry blends traditional working‑class roots with ongoing development and local civic activity.
