Nash is a small rural parish and village on the southern edge of the city and county borough of Newport, set on the low-lying Caldicot Levels overlooking the Severn Estuary. The landscape is characterised by flat, reclaimed pasture criss-crossed by drainage ditches or reens, which supports grazing and a variety of wetland birdlife; it also sits within easy commuting distance of Newport and the M4 corridor towards Bristol.
Historically part of Monmouthshire, Nash retains a dispersed, agricultural character with a small community clustered around a medieval parish church and a few farmsteads rather than a dense village centre. Local life tends to revolve around farming, conservation of the levels and links with nearby towns for shops and services, giving the parish a quiet rural identity while remaining connected to the wider regional economy.
