Rogerstone is a suburb and former village on the north‑western edge of Newport in south‑east Wales, set where the lower Ebbw valley meets the rolling farmland and woodland that leads up towards Wentwood. It benefits from good road and rail connections into Newport and the wider M4 corridor, and the local landscape is marked by river and canal corridors that give easy access to riverside walks and nearby countryside.
Historically Rogerstone grew with the 19th‑century coal, iron and railway industries, and remnants of that industrial past sit alongside modern housing, retail parks and light industry. Today it feels like a commuter suburb with a strong local community, schools, parks and active preservation of its heritage, while still serving as a gateway between urban Newport and the green spaces of the Ebbw and Usk valleys.
