Crymych is a compact upland village in north Pembrokeshire, Wales, its name coming from the Welsh for "crooked stream" and the settlement having grown up around a 19th‑century railway stopping point. It acts as a local hub with shops, a secondary school and community facilities, and sits on the edge of the moorland of the Preseli Hills, making it popular for hillwalking and country pursuits; the Preselis are also famed for their prehistoric bluestone outcrops linked to Stonehenge.
Mynachlog-ddu is a quiet, sparsely populated parish of farms and hamlets nearby, the name roughly meaning "black monastic grange" in Welsh and reflecting a long rural history. The area is characterised by rolling, heather‑covered hills, prehistoric sites and a strong sense of local community and Welsh language culture, with small‑scale tourism and agriculture forming the backbone of the local economy.
