Nevern is a compact village and community in north Pembrokeshire, west Wales, set in a steep, wooded valley carved by the River Nevern. It sits close to the lower slopes of the Preseli Hills and within easy reach of Cardigan Bay, which gives the locality a mix of rolling farmland, river scenery and access to coastal walking and wildlife.
Locally the focus is the medieval St Brynach's Church, notable for its fine early Christian high cross and long ecclesiastical history, and there are earthworks of a Norman motte-and-bailey nearby. The economy is largely rural - sheep and dairy farming - but tourism and heritage visitors who come for walking, birdwatching and ancient monuments also play a part, and a small bilingual community keeps local cultural traditions alive.
