Penally is a small coastal village in Pembrokeshire, Wales, roughly a mile south of Tenby. It sits within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the coastal path runs past a little sandy cove called Penally Sands, making it a favourite with walkers and swimmers; the village is also served by a local railway station which helped establish it as a Victorian holiday spot.
The area has long associations with a nearby military training area at Penally Camp, and today the local economy leans on tourism, holiday accommodation and agriculture. Despite its seasonal visitors, the village retains a tight-knit community feel with local events, a pub and village facilities, while the dramatic coastline and seabird life draw naturalists and photographers.
