The village and community of Llandrinio sits in rural Powys, in the historic county of Montgomeryshire, beside the River Severn and close to the England–Wales border. Its low-lying riverside meadows, hedged farmland and an old stone bridge give a very English–Welsh Marches feel, and the parish has roots reaching back to medieval times.
Economic life is largely agricultural with a scattering of small businesses and commuters travelling to nearby market towns; the river and surrounding lanes also draw walkers, anglers and canoeists. Local identity is maintained through a village hall, pub and seasonal events, so community activity plays a big part in day-to-day life rather than mass tourism or industry.
