Llanfechain is a small, picturesque village in Powys, Wales, tucked into the shallow valley of the River Cain with views towards the Berwyn hills. Its origins are medieval and you can still spot the earthworks of a motte-and-bailey and a compact stone parish church that hint at the village’s long history.
Today the local economy is largely agricultural, with sheep and cattle farming alongside a few small businesses, holiday cottages and outdoor pursuits such as walking and fishing that bring visitors. Social life remains village-centred - a pub, chapel and community events keep a strong local identity and there is still a thread of Welsh language and tradition running through daily life.
