The ward centred on the market town of Talgarth in Powys, Wales covers a compact townscape and surrounding rural areas on the western edge of the Black Mountains, close to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The valley of the River Ennig gives the area a scenic, upland character that attracts walkers and visitors while preserving a strong sense of countryside tranquillity.
Historically a market and drover town, the ward retains traditional stone buildings and a small but active community life centred on agriculture, tourism and local services. It elects a councillor to the county council and forms part of the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency; community groups and annual events help sustain social cohesion in this predominantly rural setting.
