Wyboston sits on the eastern fringe of the Borough of Bedford, hugging the banks of the River Great Ouse and brushing the border with Cambridgeshire. The ward mixes low-lying riverside countryside and small hamlets with surprisingly good road links to nearby centres such as St Neots, giving it a semi-rural, commuter-friendly character.
Locally the area is best known for Wyboston Lakes, a lakeside resort and business park that anchors much of the local economy through conferencing, leisure and light industry. Historically agricultural with roots stretching back through the medieval period, the community today is a blend of long-standing rural families and newer residents drawn by hospitality and commuting opportunities, so social life often revolves around the lakes, local pubs and village events.
