Belvedere is an inner‑suburban district in the London borough of Bexley, sitting on the south bank of the River Thames. Historically a working riverside area of wharves, docks and factories, it still bears an industrial skyline though recent years have brought riverside regeneration as part of the Thames Gateway, with new housing and business projects replacing some older sites.
The neighbourhood is served by Belvedere station with direct rail links into London, and lies close to major utilities such as the Crossness Sewage Treatment Works. The name, borrowed from Italian and meaning "beautiful view", hints at the elevated spots that overlook the river; socially the area is mixed and culturally diverse, with a strong local identity rooted in its industrial past and ongoing redevelopment.
