Parkstone

The Parkstone (electoral ward) sits on the northern edge of Poole within the unitary authority of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in Dorset. It covers much of the suburb of Parkstone, a mainly residential area of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and interwar housing, with small local shopping streets and green spaces, and is close to Poole Harbour and the coast, with frequent bus links into Bournemouth and towards the Sandbanks peninsula.

Locally the ward has a quietly mixed character - family households, retirees and commuters share a neighbourhood of period architecture, parks and independent shops. Its growth in the 19th and early 20th centuries reflected Poole’s maritime and seaside trade, and today it is represented on the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council while retaining a distinct suburban feel and active community amenities.
