The ward centred on Queensbury sits on a high moorland plateau at the edge of the metropolitan borough of Bradford in West Yorkshire, roughly between Halifax and Keighley. Its elevated position gives sweeping views across the surrounding Calder Valley and Aire Valley, and the built environment is dominated by stone terraces, Victorian chapels and the remnants of former mill and quarry sites.
Historically the area grew with 19th-century textiles and quarrying and is notable for nineteenth‑century railway engineering such as the disused Queensbury Tunnel and the old triangular junction that once linked local lines. Today the community blends long‑standing local families and commuters with a diverse population, supported by small shops, light industry and a range of local clubs and voluntary groups.
