Cholesbury-cum-St Leonards is a small, largely rural parish set on the high chalk ridges of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, a short drive from Chesham and Tring. The villages and hamlets sit among commons, beech woodlands and rolling chalk downland within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, giving wide views and plenty of footpaths for walkers.
Historically the area shows signs of long settlement and retains a strong village character of stone cottages, farmland and traditional village amenities; today the local economy is a mix of agriculture, small businesses and commuters into London and nearby towns. Community life is active, centred on village halls, pubs and fetes, and there is a notable emphasis on conservation and maintaining the parish’s rural identity.
