Little Paxton is a riverside village and civil parish in the historic district of Huntingdonshire, in Cambridgeshire, England, sitting on the floodplain of the River Great Ouse just south of St Neots. It has a strong village feel with a mix of older cottages and more modern housing, a church, a primary school and local clubs, while many residents commute to nearby towns and to London thanks to good road and rail links.
One of the village’s most distinctive features is the legacy of gravel extraction: the former workings have become the Paxton Pits Nature Reserve, a patchwork of lakes and wetlands that attracts birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts. The village therefore combines a quiet rural community with notable ecological interest and a landscape shaped by both agricultural history and more recent industrial activity.
