Ramsey is a small market town in historic Huntingdonshire, now administered within Cambridgeshire, England. Sited on slightly higher ground in the Fens beside the River Great Ouse, it grew up around the medieval Ramsey Abbey and retains a compact centre of older buildings and a strong sense of local history.
Today the town still has an agricultural hinterland and a local market economy but also functions as a commuter base for nearby Peterborough. It’s popular with nature lovers thanks to nearby reserves such as Woodwalton Fen and the Ouse Washes, and the community maintains a busy programme of clubs, events and volunteer activity that gives it a lively, close‑knit character.
