Sandy is a market town and civil parish in Central Bedfordshire, Bedfordshire, England. It sits on sandy river terraces beside the River Ivel at the foot of the Greensand Ridge, and the nearby rise known as Sandy Heath is a local landmark notable for its transmitter mast.
The town expanded after the arrival of the railway in the nineteenth century and today combines a modest local centre with commuter housing and surrounding arable farmland. It also attracts nature lovers thanks to the RSPB reserve at The Lodge, while community clubs, markets and occasional events help keep a strong village-town feel.
