The parish of Illogan sits on the northern edge of west Cornwall, just outside the Camborne-Redruth conurbation and within easy reach of the north coast. Rolling farmland and granite outcrops are punctuated by the remains of 18th–19th century tin and copper mining - engine houses, spoil heaps and shafts that form part of the Cornish mining landscape recognised by UNESCO.
Historically shaped by mining, Illogan still has a strong community identity centred on its parish church, chapels, local pubs and volunteer groups; today the economy is mixed, with agriculture, small businesses and many residents commuting to nearby towns. Heritage trails, coastal access and a distinct Cornish cultural feel make it a place where industrial history and rural village life coexist.
