St. Agnes sits on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, its village clustered below the grassy rise of St Agnes Beacon and beside dramatic clifftops and sandy coves such as Chapel Porth and Trevaunance Cove. The South West Coast Path runs along the headland, giving walkers wide sea views and easy access to rock pools, surfing breaks and coastal wildlife.
Historically the area prospered on tin and copper mining and many engine houses and spoil heaps remain as atmospheric reminders of that industry; the wider landscape forms part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage designation. Today the local economy blends tourism, small-scale farming and a lively arts and community scene, with village shops, galleries and volunteer-run projects keeping a strong sense of local identity.
