Coxhoe is a former mining village and civil parish in County Durham, England, situated a few miles to the east of Durham in the Wear valley. The settlement sits amid rolling farmland and reclaimed colliery land, with views towards the River Wear and a mix of historic terraced streets and newer housing that reflect its industrial past and commuter present.
Historically dominated by coal mining and associated brick and quarry works, Coxhoe still bears traces of that era in its street pattern and local landmarks - the site of the old Coxhoe Hall and former pit areas are part of the village story. Today the community combines local amenities, a village hall and active community groups with people commuting to nearby towns and Durham city, while green spaces and restored industrial sites offer walking routes and a sense of local heritage.
