Trimdon Grange is a small village in east County Durham, England, lying close to its namesake Trimdon and within easy reach of the market town of Sedgefield and the city of Durham. Set on rolling agricultural countryside, it developed in the 19th century as a coal‑mining settlement and still shows that industrial legacy in its layout and local landmarks.
The village is marked by its mining heritage - most notably the Trimdon Grange Colliery disaster of 1882, which left a lasting imprint on community memory and local memorials. Today the economy is a mix of commuting to nearby towns, light local employment and agriculture, and socially it retains a close‑knit, working‑class character with active local groups and a strong sense of place.
