Allesley sits on the western edge of Coventry in the West Midlands, and is best known for its blend of an old village core and surrounding twentieth‑century suburbs. The historic centre, with its village green and the mediaeval All Saints' Church, is a designated conservation area and contrasts with the post‑war housing of areas sometimes called Allesley Park and Allesley Green, giving the whole place a pleasantly mixed character.
Geographically it is semi‑rural, with the springs of the River Sherbourne nearby and plenty of open space and mature trees, which makes it popular with families and commuters who want a quieter base close to the city. Historically agricultural, the community now combines local shops, school and pubs with good road links to central Coventry, so it retains a village feel while functioning as a residential suburb.
