Arlecdon is a small village in Cumberland, in north‑west England, lying a few miles inland from the coast and close to Whitehaven, Cleator Moor and Frizington. It sits on the edge of the coastal plain beneath the rising slopes of the Lake District, so the setting combines lowland farmland with easy access to wilder fell country and quiet walking routes.
Historically the village was shaped by the 19th‑ and 20th‑century mining and iron‑working of West Cumberland, and that industrial heritage is still visible in stone rows of workers’ cottages and local memorials. Today Arlecdon is largely residential with farming and commuting to nearby towns forming much of the local economy, while village life is quietly centred on local institutions such as the church and village hall rather than large commercial centres.
