Budleigh Salterton is a small seaside town on the south coast of East Devon in Devon, England. It sits on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, with a long pebble beach backed by red sandstone cliffs, and is popular with fossil hunters and walkers on the South West Coast Path and around the nearby River Otter estuary.
The town retains a mix of Georgian and Victorian architecture and a compact high street of independent shops, galleries and cafés; it grew as a Victorian resort and today relies largely on tourism, retirement residents and small local businesses. Its geology, coastal scenery and conservation designations - part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - make it a focus for amateur geologists, birdwatchers and community festivals.
