Braunton is a large village and civil parish in North Devon, Devon, England, sitting at the head of an estuary where the River Caen meets the extensive sands and dunes of Braunton Burrows. The Burrows form part of the North Devon Biosphere Reserve and a national nature reserve and SSSI, one of the largest dune systems in Britain and a magnet for wildlife and coastal walks.
Locally the economy mixes farming with a busy tourism trade, helped by nearby beaches such as Saunton Sands and Croyde popular with walkers and surfers. The village retains a strong sense of history and community, from the medieval layout of the Braunton Great Field to the parish church of St Brannock's Church, and serves as a convenient hub a short drive from Barnstaple.
