Instow is a small coastal village on the north bank of the wide tidal estuary where the Taw and Torridge meet in North Devon, Devon, England. Its sand-and-shingle shore, broad mudflats and saltmarshes make it a magnet for sailors, kite- and windsurfers, birdwatchers and families, with clear views across to Appledore and along the North Devon coast.
Historically a modest maritime and fishing community, Instow now relies heavily on tourism and holiday lets alongside local services, while the disused railway route nearby has been reused as part of the regional walking and cycling network known as the Tarka Trail. The village retains a relaxed, community feel with cafés, pubs and waterside activities that reflect its estuarine setting and seafaring roots.
