Shaldon is a small coastal village in Teignbridge, Devon, England, sitting on the south bank of the River Teign estuary opposite Teignmouth. It has a compact harbour, shingle beaches and a regular ferry link across the estuary; the spit known locally as the Ness helps shelter the river mouth and is popular with walkers and birdwatchers for its coastal views and wildlife.
Historically a fishing and boatbuilding community that grew as a Victorian seaside destination, Shaldon still displays period architecture alongside practical maritime facilities. The local economy is largely driven by tourism and boating - yachts, day visitors, holiday lets, cafés and independent shops - while a close-knit community maintains seaside traditions such as regattas; the village is also within easy reach of Exeter and the hills of Dartmoor.
