Easington is a small coastal parish on the low-lying Holderness plain in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, a short drive from Withernsea and the city of Hull. Sitting close to the North Sea, its landscape is dominated by arable farmland and the ongoing challenges of coastal erosion and sea defences that shape local life and land use.
Historically a rural farming community, the area’s character has been altered in modern times by energy infrastructure, most notably the nearby Easington gas terminal, which provides local employment and a distinctive industrial presence. Despite these changes the parish retains a tight-knit village feel centred on the church, village hall and a small number of community amenities, and local debates often balance agricultural traditions, coastal management and the impact of industry.
