Holderness is an electoral ward in the east of Kingston upon Hull, centred on the long arterial Holderness Road that links the area to the city centre. It is largely residential, with a mix of Victorian terraces and mid‑20th‑century council housing, local parades of shops, schools and community centres, and regular bus services into central Hull.
The ward borrows its name from the wider Holderness plain in the East Riding of Yorkshire and reflects Hull’s port and industrial history in its street patterns and built fabric. Socially it is mixed and community‑orientated, with active grassroots groups and ongoing regeneration efforts to improve housing, high streets and amenities, while local churches and events help sustain a strong neighbourhood identity.
