Patrington is a small historic village in the rural East Riding of Yorkshire, sitting on the low-lying plain of Holderness a few miles from the mudflats of the Humber Estuary. Its hinterland of arable fields and salt marshes gives the area a strong agricultural character, while nearby coastal spots such as Patrington Haven and Spurn Point make it popular with birdwatchers and walkers who visit for estuary views and wildlife.
The village is best known for the impressive medieval church of St Patrick, often called the “Queen of Holderness”, and retains the feel of a traditional market community with pubs, local shops and events that sustain village life. Historically it sat on local coach and rail routes into Hull, and although those transport links have reduced, Patrington remains an attractive base for exploring the quieter east Yorkshire coast and the farming landscape around it.
