Skeffling is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, set on the low-lying Holderness plain close to the saltmarshes of the Humber Estuary and the North Sea. The surrounding landscape is dominated by arable farming, drained fields and coastal defences, and the local economy remains largely agricultural with many people commuting to nearby towns such as Withernsea and Patrington.

There’s a tight-knit rural community with a handful of historic buildings and a village hall, and the parish is popular with birdwatchers and nature lovers because of its proximity to the Humber mudflats and Spurn Point. Like much of Holderness, Skeffling’s story is shaped by land drainage, coastal change and a longstanding maritime heritage that still colours local life.
