Ditchling is a compact village a few miles north of Brighton and close to Lewes in East Sussex, England. It sits at the foot of the rolling chalk escarpment of the South Downs, with the prominent landmark Ditchling Beacon rising above the settlement and forming part of the South Downs National Park.
Historically agricultural with medieval roots and a handsome parish church, the village became a notable centre for the Arts and Crafts movement in the early 20th century and the legacy is celebrated at the Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft. Today it retains a lively community spirit with independent shops, pubs and events, attracts walkers and commuters, and is prized for its conservation area, traditional houses and creative heritage.
