The village of Ditchling sits in the district of Lewes, East Sussex, England, tucked at the foot of Ditchling Beacon on the chalk ridge of the South Downs. Its position on the edge of the South Downs National Park gives sweeping views and makes it a popular base for walkers and cyclists; the village is also within easy reach of Brighton.
Despite a medieval core of flint cottages and the old church of St Margaret's Church, Ditchling is best known for its early 20th‑century Arts and Crafts community. The Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft celebrates local craft-making and the former Guild of St Joseph and St Dominic; today the local economy mixes agriculture, small creative businesses, tourism and commuters, while nearby Ditchling Common and the Beacon remain important nature and recreation spots.
