Telscombe is a small coastal parish in the district of Lewes, East Sussex, England, notable for its split character: a tiny medieval core, Telscombe Village, sitting on the lower slopes of the South Downs, and the much more modern seaside strip of Telscombe Cliffs which blends into neighbouring Peacehaven. The landscape is dominated by the wide expanse of Telscombe Tye, an unusual area of common downland right by the sea that gives sweeping views over the coast and Brighton and remains important for grazing, wildlife and recreation.
Historically rooted, with a historic church and manor at the village, Telscombe today is largely residential while retaining some agricultural and conservation interests; many residents commute to Brighton and other nearby towns. The parish has a quiet community feel, a mixture of seaside leisure and downland countryside, and is prized locally for its open spaces and panoramic coastal outlooks.
