Earls Colne is a village and civil parish in the Braintree district of Essex, England, set beside the shallow valley of the River Colne in north‑east Essex. It has a compact historic centre with an attractive parish church and a conservation area, surrounded by farmland and pockets of woodland.
Its history reaches back to the medieval manorial system - its name reflects historic earldom ownership - and in the 20th century the nearby Earls Colne Airfield played a role in the Second World War; today that site hosts light industry, aviation enthusiasts and workshops. The village retains a strong community feel with local clubs, a village hall and pubs, while many residents commute to nearby towns such as Braintree and Colchester for work and services.
