Silver End is a planned model village in the district of Braintree, Essex, England, created in the 1920s by industrialist Francis Henry Crittall to house workers for his window‑manufacturing business. It sits in the flat, agricultural landscape of north Essex near market towns such as Witham, and is notable for its coherent interwar layout and examples of modernist and Art Deco domestic and community architecture.
The village retains a strong sense of identity: many original houses, the village hall and other community facilities survive and parts of Silver End are a conservation area with several listed buildings. Its economy and social character were long shaped by the Crittall works, and more recently by adaptation of industrial sites and a commuter relationship with nearby towns, making it of interest to architectural historians and those curious about company‑town social history.
