Great Totham is a largely rural ward and village in the district of Maldon, Essex, England, sitting on higher ground above the nearby estuary. Its position gives long views across the River Blackwater and towards the Dengie Peninsula, and the area is characterised by mixed farmland, hedgerows and a network of public footpaths and bridleways that attract walkers and riders.
Locally there is a strong village community centred on the parish church, village hall, primary school and a small handful of pubs and businesses; agriculture remains important but many residents commute to larger towns such as Chelmsford and Colchester. The settlement has medieval roots and retains a pleasing mix of historic buildings and later housing, with regular community activities like fetes, clubs and grassroots sports keeping village life active.
