Heybridge East sits on the eastern side of Heybridge, on the fringe of Maldon in Essex, England. The ward borders salt marshes of the Blackwater Estuary and is close to Heybridge Basin, where the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation meets the estuary, so boating, birdwatching and estuary walks are local pastimes and landscape features that shape everyday life.
Administratively it returns councillors to Maldon District Council and is largely residential with a mix of local shops, small businesses and surrounding agricultural land; many people commute to nearby centres such as Chelmsford and Colchester. Historic ties to the estuary and navigation have influenced the settlement pattern and there are active community and conservation groups working to protect the marshland character and support local events.
