Dovercourt Bay sits on the North Sea coast of Tendring, Essex, England, immediately beside Harwich. It has a traditional seafront with a mix of shingle and sandy stretches, a promenade and Victorian/Edwardian-era holiday heritage; the coastal setting gives wide estuary views and easy access to birdwatching and salt‑marsh habitats around the nearby Stour and Orwell estuaries.
Historically the area’s economy and identity have been tied to maritime activity and visitor trade from the neighbouring port, while today the ward is a mix of residential streets, shops and seafront amenities. Like many East Coast seaside communities it has faced economic challenges, but it retains active local groups, a quiet tourist appeal out of season and good commuter links into larger centres such as Colchester.
