Little Oakley is a small village and civil parish in the district of Tendring in Essex, in the north‑east of England. It sits a short distance inland from the North Sea coast and the tidal creeks of Hamford Water, neighbouring Great Oakley and close to the port town of Harwich, so the landscape mixes arable farmland, hedged lanes and coastal marshes.
The community is quiet and largely residential with historic roots apparent in older buildings and the village layout; local life revolves around a village hall, parish events and outdoor pursuits such as birdwatching and coastal walks. Economically many residents work in agriculture or commute to nearby centres such as Harwich (including Harwich International Port) or Colchester, while the proximity to maritime traffic and nature reserves gives the area a distinctive coastal character.
