Lamesley is a semi-rural ward in the south of the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, in Tyne and Wear. It takes in a scattering of villages and small settlements such as Kibblesworth and mixes farmland, greenbelt and pockets of suburban housing, giving a distinctly rural-on-the-edge feel while still being close to the urban centres of Tyneside.
The area has an industrial and mining past that still shapes local identity, but today there’s a blend of commuter communities, small industrial estates and agricultural land. It enjoys good road links to the national network via the A1(M) and is close to landmarks like the Angel of the North, so residents can easily reach larger employment hubs while still benefiting from open spaces and local community facilities.
